Valentino is one of a select few labels that still excites me every season at fashion week. I love the direction Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli are taking the brand in, and I’m always overjoyed to see their designs hit the red carpet (Keira Knightley in this Spring/Summer 2015 dress was MAJOR). If money were no object and I could wear any brand I liked over party season I would definitely chose Valentino. However, £8,000+ gowns are not an option for me.And that’s where the British brand Needle & Thread comes in. Created by artisans in India and the UK, all of the pieces are heavily embellished with a slight Valentino vibe. However, instead of reaching four-figures the prices are much more palatable – mini and midi dresses tend to hover somewhere between £150-£200, whilst full-length gowns start at £200 and go up to £350. I’ve worn the label a number of times this year (most recently at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show) and have always been impressed by the quality. So if you’re currently struggling to find fashionable occasion wear that doesn’t cost the earth, Needle & Thread definitely deserves your attention. You’ll find the current collection at ASOS and Net-A-Porter, and here’s my pick of six of the best designs for Holiday Season parties…1. Net-A-Porter 2. ASOS and Net-A-Porter 3. ASOS 4.
