So while I’ve been in Georgia, I’ve also been working (as a freelance writer, I can work any where) and multitasking. I teamed up with the fabulous hair blogger and Youtuber Alexis otherwise known as Lexi with the Curls to bring not one but TWO fabulous events in Atlanta. The other event went down on December 30th at Sole Atlanta in Atlantic Station, but we’re still waiting on Fred from FreddyO.com to send over the pics he took (well, the guy does take photos of Atlanta’s hottest celebs so we understand he’s busy). But I had my trusty camera in hand last Friday where Lexi and I hosted over 25 of Atlanta’s hottest fashion, beauty, and hair bloggers at the TJ Maxx at Perimeter Center in Dunwoody, GA for a “New Year, New You” event. I cannot even begin to tell you how much FUN this was meeting people whose blogs I’ve read and then adding in the joy of finding cute and affordable finds at TJ Maxx/Marshalls. Like, how will my next bunch of Fridays compare? Before our guests arrived, Lexi and I surveyed the store and pulled some of our fashion (me) and beauty/hair (her) picks. What’s really cool about TJ Maxx/Marshalls is aside from the fact that more than 10,000 new items hit each and every store every week, it’s also one-stop shopping. You can get a head-to-toe outfit including items for your skin, hair, and makeup…PLUS they also have an awesome fitness selection. I spotted tons of name brand workout gear and even fitness tools such as pedometers, free weights, yoga mats, and more. Cool, right? But you guys already knew that ;)So you see those black Prada pumps pictured above? They’re classic, very chic, and very versatile–you can wear them to work or even channel your inner “Joan Clayton” from Girlfriends and wear them with cargo pants and a funky blazer. These were one of my picks because just about every closet needs a pair of classic black pumps. The original price, TJ Maxx price, and then the clearance price? See for yourself…Original price $800, TJ Maxx price $399, and then it was marked down for clearance to $289—a savings of over 60%! Perfect for the girl who loves her designers but doesn’t want to pay designer prices. These Paige Premium Denim wine colored skinny jeans (below) made my list because I LOVE my designer jeans and also love the pop of color colored denim provides. In fact, TJ Maxx/Marshalls has TONS of current designer denim (I also spotted a pair of J Brand dark denim skinny jeans for $39 but they were ankle length and mama needs more length). And check out the price…You know how I feel about blazers and how they need to be in your wardrobe, so of course I picked out this Rebecca Minkoff marbled jacket. Perfect for work and for play. Also this Vince suede jacket with a ruffled lapel……made my list because it can double as an early fall jacket AND a blazer. Plus it gives a rocker edge to your basics.I adore these Elizabeth and James side cut booties (below) because they’re classic with a little edge. You can wear it with skirts, maxi dresses, jeans, wide leg pants, etc.And more of my picks included something leopard print (like the cute Elizabeth and James pumps pictured below), citrine colored Marc by Marc Jacobs skinny jeans, Steve Madden platforms, a pair of funky House of Harlow flat booties with cut-outs, tan wedge booties, patterned black tights by Anne Klein (great for working your spring pieces into the fall and winter) and a Chloe shoulder bag.Lexi found a ton of great hair and makeup products…all up to 60% off. She was amazed to find a CHI flat iron and blow dryer for under $75 each. And me, too! Shoot, those things can start at $100 and up retail. After presenting our picks to the crowd, we played a game of “The Off-Price is Right”. The blogger who came closest to the TJ Maxx price of an item, got to win it. Items up for grabs: a DKNY wallet, Jennifer Lopez Glamour eau de parfum, and a fab book on super foods. Then because we were already enjoying that game, we played a style challenge where the bloggers had 12 minutes to put together an outfit complete with shoes. The outfits were then judged America’s Next Top Model style by a fashionable manager and accessories associate. The idea was to get the most stylish outfit for the least amount of money, but since the outfits everyone picked out were so great, the judges picked three winners who each won $25 TJ Maxx/Marshalls gift cards. But then we got our Oprah-on and gave EVERYONE a gift card. It was all “You get a gift card, and you get a gift card, and you get a gift card!” and the crowd screamed with delight…lol. I got a few quick pics of some of the pieces the bloggers picked out…P.S. I had on the cutest black sheer blouse from Dylan Alexa (sent to me by PR) along with a pair of Citizens of Humanity black skinny jeans, the Sam Edelman pumps I bought at the Bloomingdale’s sale (which I quickly had to switch out for my studded flat boots…lol), and a Vince cardigan. The necklace and earrings were borrowed from my 17 year old niece…lol. And here we all are… Attendees…Mattie http://mattieologie.comEboni Ife http://fashionista-next-door.com/Habon  http://somalianbeautynomad.tumblr.com/Breck http://www.fashionwithoutguilt.comAdrienne http://memyhairandthecity.comDanielle http://www.Lushworthy.comDanni http://DanielleCanada.comRaven http://stitchesxseams.tumblr.comTiffini Editor of http://tastemakermag.comTia http://ifiwereabritgirl.blogspot.comTai http://www.thecoolpeopleiknow.com/Jazmine http://www.funkyjadecoloredracks.blogspot.comKristen Kai http://lilykai.netGarmai http://www.garmaikm.com and Fashion Editor of Kontrol magazineFran  http://www.bossygirl1980.comArkeedah http://Www.itsarkeedah.comKatrice http://www.myvicariouslyfe.comRenelyn http://www.makeupbyrenren.comKela http://naturallykela.blogspot.comFarrah http://Mahoganyknots.comMiMi http://lipglossandbinky.comNikka Shae  http://ohnikka.comTrina http://www.thebabyshopaholic.comShauna http://thevibrantvj.tumblr.comErika http://www.blulabelbungalow.comDiamonde http://givemegolddiamonds.tumblr.com/Kerrie www.virtuousstyls.comPlus a number of great folks from Bossip.com‘s editorial staff came through. It was SO GREAT getting together with these ladies—they all have such great style and were so fun to be around! Make sure you check out their blogs–although I bet most of you already do :)I have to say, I’m very lucky because every single time I meet new people through blogging, it’s always such a warm exchange. And what better way to meet new fashion, hair, and beauty bloggers than through shopping ;)And speaking of shopping, here’s what I got with the gift card TJ Maxx/Marshalls gave me…Sorry for having it wrapped like that in the pic…lol. What I was wearing underneath this Poleci velvet tuxedo jacket (originally $300, TJ Maxx clearance price $79.99) wasn’t ready for the world to see. I wasn’t sure if I loved this jacket, but also didn’t want to leave the store without it. Thankfully if I change my mind, I can exchange it.I also picked up this Calvin Klein LBD basically because I love classics with a twist and this is definitely something I can wear over and over. The price?$39!!! Yeaaaaah baby! Even better yet, since I tend to get the most wears possible out of my wardrobe, it will cost me less than $1 per wear if I wear this just 40 times—which I totally could do over the course of a year or so. Capsule wardrobe, whaaaaat?I also got this cute bag…not sure of the brand (not that I care), but I love that it can be held as a satchel or as a shoulder bag. Plus it was just $29. And because I fell off not only the healthy eating bandwagon again, but also the working out consistently bandwagon (see, I used to work out no matter what, but this past month I’ve been baaaaad), I got this jump rope to remind myself I did not come to Georgia to gain back the 30 pounds I lost back in 2009.I was tempted to get two of the 5lb kettle bells and a yoga mat that were also on display at the store, but then I realized 1. I don’t live in GA and would have to lug that back to NYC 2. There’s a 15lb kettle bell at my house and 3. I already have a yoga mat. SMH. But I was super impressed with the fitness section at TJ Maxx/Marshalls. Tons of workout clothes, sneakers, and equipment. And that wraps it all up! Do you shop at TJ Maxx/Marshalls? Tell me about some of your best finds ;) This looks like a great event! Glad you had fun in my old stompin grounds! I miss ATL! We need to get you to host an event in DC! Mines doesn’t have prada shoes…I’m jealous. But I do like the fact that tjmaxx offers variety and doesn’t cater to just one type of woman. Hmmm, as far as the best thing I’ve found at tjmaxx, I’d have to say this bomb bathing suit cover that I even wear as a top some days! LoL. Oh, and how adorable is that child helping her mom pick out the flats!? Too cute! That store had some GREAT finds! I definitely need to make going to TJ Maxx more of a weekly thing just to see all the new stuff they got in…lol.Awesome on the bathing suit cover :)And yes, the little girl was soooo adorable…lolRight!
